Thinking about 2022

Come to this blog routinely as use as a reference but have not had much reason to add a new post. But that can make a web area appear abandoned so here is a post.

Great thing about mathematical research is you can go on forever with it. And I have so many results can just play around as curiosity drives me. Hard work of solid foundations has been done, and was grueling! Why I think basic research is for the young.

Good news is: results on blog are SOLID and thoroughly checked by me. Am routinely visiting here too. Is so exciting coming back to grab out something just because am curious instead of in hot pursuit of new discovery.

Next year is nearly here and as usual will ponder value of a new post through it.

Functional usage perspective

Use of a mathematical result is such a wild and fascinating indicator to me. Feel like was indoctrinated with idea you get use by others from formal journal publication.

Learned from this blog is simply with publication itself if people become aware with a useful result! Which makes sense.

For years talked and argued my math approaches on Usenet. When started blogging as well found out, had an audience.

One of most stunning mathematical discoveries simplifies reducing two variable Diophantine equations.

Was fascinated to find with experiments using this blog that linking to result was dynamic and posted about that research. Which did actually feel weird but have noted math and feelings do not mix well and think can be true of research results in general. Problem is can be nerve-wracking, like what if get a shattering finding?

But have over 17 years now since wild story of my own publication in a formal math journal which helps much with perspective.

Have noted am a fan of publication and am a fan of the formal journal process. Which now is worthless for me as my global reach here makes unnecessary.

Journals help direct people to something that journal editors think is worth noticing.

With my research? Am vastly better at doing that myself.
